Six times a year, the Carmel Residents Association creates and circulates our newsletter, The Voice. We publish The Voice online right here at carmelresidents.org, as well as on paper. Paper copies of every issue are mailed first-class to CRA members. Bimonthly paper copies are also distributed to the wider community at several locations, including the Carmel-by-the-Sea post office, Harrison Memorial Library, Carmel Drug Store, Bruno’s Market & Deli and Nielsen Brothers Market.
The Voice showcases a mix of village news, commentaries on Carmel life, personality pieces, interviews, investigative reporting, photography, announcements of scheduled CRA social events, association meetings, our public speakers series and accounts of other CRA activities. Contributors are CRA members who volunteer their time and skills. Design and production are done by a paid designer.
The editorial board responsible for writing and editing The Voice includes: Barbara Livingston, CRA President and three-term past member of the Carmel-by-the-Sea City Council; Tom Parks, playwright, producer and director whose work is featured at the Carl Cherry Center for the Arts; and Mary Condry, past president of the CRA and indefatigable community volunteer. All three editorial board members are also members of the CRA Board of Directors.
Look for The Voice online and on paper at the start of every other month: January, March, May, July, September and November.

Stories of Old Carmel
To honor and celebrate the 100th birthday of Carmel-by-the-Sea, the Carmel Residents Association published our tribute book “Stories of Old Carmel.’’ The book is a compilation of local history columns written over the years for our newspaper, The Voice. The stories, written by Richard Flower and Constance Wright, were edited by Mr. Flower and published in 2016 to great acclaim.
“Stories of Old Carmel’’ is available at Carmel Bay Company and the Carmel Drug Store. It can also be ordered for you by Pilgrim’s Way bookstore in downtown Carmel and by River House Books, located in The Crossroads center.
These charming tales are of personalities and events which have shaped our village over the years and made Carmel-by-the-Sea the special place it is today.
