Will was born in Ohio in 1949 and raised in the Southwest.  He was attending Arizona State University on a scholarship and majoring in are and drama when he was drafted and then served in Vietnam.  After returning from combat duty, Will took up studies at the Brooks Institute of Fine Arts in Santa Barbara, California where he studies under master painter, Ray Strong.  There he met his wife, Claudia, who is also an artist.

Will is a signature member of the American Watercolor Society, the National Watercolor Society, and was elected to membership to the Knickerbocker Artists of New York in 1986.  In 2007 Will received the Past President's Medal from the American Watercolor Society for his contributions to watercolor painting.  In 2014 Will was awarded the title of "Luminary" by the Arts Council for Monterey County, California.

Will is a past president of the Carmel Art Association and continues to serve on the Board of Directors.  Will and his wife live and create in Carmel Valley, California just across the meadow from their grandchildren.
