A Coastal Community Town Hall on California State Housing Legislation

Join Carmel Residents Association and local officials as we connect and interact with our California State - Sacramento Senate and Assembly Representatives.  Senator Laird and Assemblywoman Addis with our Moderator Paul Miller, Publisher of the Carmel Pine Cone are looking forward to joining us to explore the latest in recent Housing legislation impacting our entire Coastal Community.

Rember that creativity, size, parking, pre-approved ADU's, lots splits, fourplexes, and repurposing sites are many of the possibilities likely needed to embrace incremental housing tied to recent State laws. Join us on October 23rd to learn more about this legislation and to explore protecting Land Use and Zoning Local Controls in our Monterey Peninsula Community.

City of Carmel-by-the-Sea - Tree Survey

Our Town self describes as a Village in the Forest by the Sea. To protect this critical investment in the past and future - our City's Department of Forestry is looking for your input as they craft the next decades of our Urban Forest Master Plan.  This plan will provide an important road map for the preservation and maintenance of Carmel-by-the-Sea’s urban forest over the next 40 years.

CRA's Members No Hosts Return - October 18th

Wednesday October 18th 4:30-6:00PM CRA Members please join us at our next No-Host in the bar at Little Napoli - NE Corner of Dolores and 7th. Lets fill it up!


Please Join CRA in the Carmel-by-the-Sea - Anniversary & Halloween Parade!

No mere mortal can resist the fun of Halloween in Carmel!  We hope the same applies to our Membership!  Our City Activities Team hosts this great annual celebration and experience for our Village and everyone!  Join your CRA Board as we gather with fellow members to enjoy the fun and this great Village tradition.

We gather surrounding Devendorf Park (same location as at Farmers Market) from Tuesday October 31st between 4:00 to 4:30 - when the marching begins at 4:30.  We march up and down the Avenue handing our candy for the kids sitting along the sidwalks of Ocean Avenue.  All you need is a costume and a smile.  CRA provides the banner and candy.

City Council Session Highlights - earlier this month and next

October 3rd+  City Council 

Agenda Packet and YouTube topics included recognizing Volunteers in Police Service (VIPS or white shirts), Wave Astound Broadband proposed rollout presentation received and will be revisited in 2 months, Car Week After Action Report with directions, Strategic Priorities half yearly adjustments and additions (CRA reinforced our survey results are considered in decision making), and Resolution retaining the historic wall at the 7th & Dolores Annex was approved.  Finally, four requests for Mills Act tax benefit were requested to be a future Council topic - with concerns expressed that it may have veered from its intended use.  

In the special Oct 2nd City Council the second reading of the Draft Telecom (Cell Tower) Ordinance was accepted and approved.  The final approval will come from Coastal Commission - date to be announced.

Upcoming City Council Topics November or ??

Currently targeted for November includes: exploring Carmel Addresses, Rule 28 Utilities Undergrounding for Del Mar and Mission Trail, Mills Act Program Review and Notable Homes Proposal are just a few significant topics planned.  Note: the Paid Parking report was anticipated but was postponed from it's previously announced October date and will be rescheduled in the near future.
