June 1, 2026 - City Council - Parking Management/Paid Parking Presentation

Findings: Chief Trayer reviewed his current findings. With significant Council and Community feedback - Council gave thumbs up on continuing to define what is possible, the options and return with recommendations. This effort to also include residents and business members, with staff and possibly a Council Member - to dive into the details. 

June 2 2026 - City Council Topics Budget Approval and Tax Measures

Findings: This budget was approved, with two seperate callouts/items pending. Two of the Capital projects (8th Avenue Sand Ramp and the Picadilly Park restroom addition.  And explore funding for See Monterey at next Council in July.

Findings: HERE is the video beginning of the public comments covering BOTH tax measures with resulting Council discussions and decisions as follows. The TOT received 5/0 vote support. The Sales Tax received a 4/1 vote support. Discussion included pros/cons of each tax, timing, as well as the risks including having one or two tax measures on our ballots.

May 30th City Wide Evacuation Drill
plus appreciation of Cindi Mitchell's 40 years of service in CPD!

This planning involved cross functional teams, region wide!  Thanks to Chief Todd Trayer for this orchestration. Thanks to all of the staff and volunteers pitching in.  Thanks to the 140 cars who drove and to the pedestrians who bused to the Evacuation destination for the full experience. And a formal "after action report" is being prepared that will be shared with key learnings at an upcoming public meeting. 


HCD's letter confirms it!  Our two years effort on our
Housing Element Amendment is "substantially compliant" 
with State law!

Here is the May 28, 2026 Letter from the State HCD The City is scheduling final adoption hearings for the Planning Commission in June, then the final hearing at City Council in early July 2026.  Details available on our CRA Housing webpage HERE.

Saturday August 1st - CRA and Carmel High - Rummage Sale with drop off days July 29-31 at Carmel High. All of your items (donated or purchased) will benefit local non-profits including those that make a difference for our next generation of Carmelites.  Details coming soon HERE. Save your reusable items to contribute until then!

Saturday September 12th - CRA's Annual Feast in the Forest - held annually at Pebble Beach Indian Village 4:00-7:00. Details and purchasing your tickets will be available here HERE 

Tuesday September 15th - CRA Host's - Carmel City Council Candidates Forum at Carmel Woman's Club 5:30-7:30, held every 2 years!  Details HERE
