May 30th City Wide Evacuation Drill - HERE

Below from our Police Chief Todd Trayer - verbatim!
"Here is how it will work. First, we have started a campaign to get as many people signed up for Alert Monterey’s notifications (https://www.readymontereycounty.org/prepare/stay-informed).
Then, on May 30th, 2026, at around 9:00 a.m. those signed up and those who are in the Department of Emergency Management’s system will receive an Evacuation Drill alert. That alert will tell anyone who wishes to voluntarily participate in the drill to drive to Monte Verde St. and Ocean Ave. If you are on foot, go to Junipero St. and Ocean Ave. and we will have transportation for you. We will guide you from there to a Safe Zone.
Participants will be guided toward a Safe Zone where they will park or be dropped off by the shuttle. They will be surveyed and receive entries to a raffle drawing. All participants and the community will be invited to Devendorf Park between 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. for a Safety Fair. There will be food and booths from your safety-related teams to provide the latest information. MST, SPCA, Monterey/Carmel Fire, Carmel-by-the Sea PD, CHP, VIPS, CERT, Dept. of Emergency Management, the Red Cross, and even FireWise Councils will be present to answer questions.
We know there will be hiccups. We recognize there might be some slowdowns around 9:00 am to 11:00 am. But we will leave this drill with a better understanding of community needs and how to get you the best information out to each other. We will be better at messaging, managing traffic, and working with our safety partners than ever before. I challenge every Carmel-by-the-Sea community member to participate and grow through this drill with us. You will be better prepared and teach us how to be one of the safest and most prepared villages."
